boxen storage solutions Tuesday, October 4 2011
As part of the reorganization effort in my laboratory, I've had a need for large (several-gallon) storage solutions for holding things like masses of parallel cables and CPU cooler equipment. Today I hit upon a great solution: old computer tower chassis covers. While the chassis themselves are usually made of a skeleton of iron or alumninum, the covers are simple pieces of sheet metal folded into a flat-bottom capital-U. All I had to do to turn them into roomy three or four gallon boxes was to plug their ends with flat pieces of wood, which could be held in place by screws. It didn't take me long to make three such boxes, and I still have the supplies to make another one.
While I was working on making these boxes, I could feel myself becoming gradually weaker and mentally dull. The source of my problems seemed to be my intestines (which had sent me to the Brownhouse five times yesterday). I no longer had the Catskill Mountain Quickstep, but it fell crampy and unsettled in there. By about 4:00pm, all I wanted to do was lie around on the couch and watch episodes of Sister Wives.
I took a nap in the evening and woke up feeling refreshed, but before long whatever was wrong with me started bothering me again.
