   alien seahorse
Monday, November 21 2011

After some tweaking, I finished my seahorse painting today. It's not an accurate depiction of any actual species; it combines features from several with my own alien coloring scheme.

Today I made great progress on the iOS side of my generic fieldguide application. I figured out how to swap viewcontrollers (as well as data to make them show a variety of things) almost as easily as passing query strings to web pages. I even got to the point where I was displaying images of the various creatures on the "organism" viewcontroller. Occasionally I ran into bugs, one of which had actually been in a piece of poorly-written code I'd found online that nevertheless had solved one of my problems.

This evening Gretchen and I went out to the Garden Café in Woodstock to partake of their Monday evening buffet (whose tempeh and polenta options had appealed to us). Once we got there, though, mostly all I wanted to do was eat the white bean and barley soup. For me, when the soup is good, there's little reason to eat anything else. (I'd actually done a similar thing at the Olive Garden the other day, chosing to eat mostly minestrone and get my pasta to go, though of course it all ended up being eaten by a naughty Sally.)
