   Jack and Diane
Thursday, May 10 2018
Ray and his dog Jack came over early this afternoon and hung out with Gretchen for three hours talking about all manner of deep stuff. [REDACTED]
At some point while he was excitedly yarfing about, I introduced Jack to tiny Diane the Kitten. Yes, their couple name would have to be Jack and Diane. Diane weighs just over 2 pounds, while Jack weighs perhaps 30 times that, so I was understandably nervous at first. But Diane is amazing with dogs, even energetic hard-to-control ones like Jack. She displayed just enough moxie to keep him on edge, but not enough to scare him away completely. When she did certain things (like fluff up and present the side of her body with a pronounced arch in her back), he kept his distance. Other times she would invite him over and they would sniff noses or she would smack him gently with a paw. This combination of behaviors had him both fascinated and under control, allowing such activities as him chasing her or her chasing him. It went on like this much longer than I would've expected.
