New Years, 2025 Wednesday, January 1 2025
Last night at just about the beginning of 2025 there was a rare winter thunder storm complete with bright flashes of lightning and loud thunder. By today
the sky was spitting a light rain at various times, and it was fairly warm. So at some point this afternoon I went down to the stone wall at the bottom of the Woodshed Path and added more stones, mostly on the south side to even out the surface somewhat and cover up parts that weren't as beautiful with finely-stacked walls of mostly smaller stones. Then I went south of the Chamomile to do some more work on the Chamomile wall. I decided to use mostly small stones found nearby to build a wall between the two buttresses I'd recently added near the wall's eastern terminus. This wall was a foot or so from the main wall, so creating it produced yet another chamber, one big enough for a raccoon to den in.
Later I took the dogs for a walk up the Farm Road and then back home atop the escarpment to the west. This time Neville came, though I lost him while climbing that escarpment (something he seems to be able to do at least as quickly as I can).
This evening Gretchen made pici (available at HomeGoods!) with a mushroom, wine, and vegan butter sauce. She did most of the work herself, though I did a few things, such as chop the mushrooms and mix up the broth. Pici takes a long time to cook, and even after it should've been done, it was still a bit to al dente. After Jeopardy!, we watched the first episode of a new show called "That's Florida, Man", featuring real people telling crazy only-in-Florida stories as they are reenactmented. Today's story was of a guy who needed money to see his favorite electronic dance band, so he took out an ad on CraigsList offering to do "anything, within reason." Some guy hired him to come to his house, chop off some of that guy's toes, cook them, and eat them. It was an entertaining and clever show, so we'll be watching more of it.
It must've been because it was New Years Day and Gretchen wanted to make it special, and she insisted that I watch more teevee with her. So we then watched an episode of Shark Tank.
