When I got out of bed this morning, I had a screaming acid reflux thing going on at the bottom of my esophagus. It was so bad, I went directly for the baking soda, skipping conventional calcium carbonate antacids entirely. [REDACTED]
Gretchen went off to hike with one of her friends named Greg and I spent a fair amount of that time in the bathtub because that was what I was in the mood for.

At a little after 5:00pm, it was time to go to wherever it was Gretchen had arranged for us to go. Fortunately, Gretchen got in the driver's seat because I didn't know where we were going. We ended up at Little Loαf Bakery in New Paltz, which was hosting a appreciation party for people who had helped the bakery get its brick & mortar location via KickStarter. Unlike most parties I end up at, this was a completely non-alcoholic event. There was coffee, which seemed like an okay substitute. But then it turned out that it was decaf. Most of the people present seemed to be part of the LGBTQ scene. There were also a lot more women present than men. (I stood up at the end, and not only was I the oldest person in the room, but I might've also been the tallest.)
In addition to a variety of baked goods, the staff kept bringing out big trays of savory sandwiches, one being a sort of vegan BLT using a croissant as bread and an Italian tofu sandwich on what I thing was foccaia. There was some live music from two different musicians, a raffle, and even a not-overtly-religious blessing of the space. Not only is the space a bakery and café, but it hopes to be a meeting place for the community daily after it closes at 4:00pm. The queer community is feeling especially embattled right now, so it's good to have such a safe space.
Being that I didn't know anyone there except Gretchen and the owners, I can't really say that I had a great time, at least not initially. But by the end I was enjoying myself. We left with a big pink box of baked goods we'd won in a raffle and two little to-go containers stuffed with leftover sandwich.

Back at the house, Gretchen and I watched Jeopardy! and then the fourth episode of the second season of Severance. This is the one where our protagonists are taken on an outdoor winter camping trip at the base of the "tallest waterfall in the world" (an obvious lie). The episode felt both draggy and shark-jumpy, with some consequential things happening in among long linger shots on people's faces. "This is boring!" Gretchen declared at one point. She would've rather watched the third season of The White Lotus.
