lack of supervision Friday, February 6 2026
Gretchen left for Maryland late this morning with all the food she'd prepared and her guitar (she's been practicing "Never Going Back" by Lindsey Buckingham). Meanwhile I'd taken a 120 mg dose of pseudoephedrine in hopes it would help me do the various things I needed to do. But I mostly stayed focused on bootloader-adjacent projects. I tried getting the bootloader working on an Atmega644p and came fairly close, though there might've been a problem related to the larger flash page size it uses.
Later I loaded up the dogs and drove out to 9W to swap some wrongly-purchased plumbing supplies at Lowes (though I'd actually bought the wrong supplies at Herzogs). While there, I also went to Hannaford to buy the kind of food I eat when Gretchen is away: canned nuts, sourdough bread, tofu, faux bacon, and a four pack of very strong stout aged in whiskey barrels. Then I got bottom-shelf booze at Fitz's Liquor Store.
Back at the house, I mostly just drank alcohol instead of accomplishing anything. But I need to do that on occasion, and when Gretchen is away, I take advantage of the lack of supervision.
