what I've decided to call the dysfunctional entity formed by the relationship of Matthew Hart and Angela Venezian. As individuals, they're wonderful, generous people. But together, they feed off of each other's various problems and neuroses, resulting in extremely destructive, wasteful drunken behaviour. Since they have each other, they don't let their impact on others, particularly their housemates, affect them very much. A feedback loop exists which increasingly cuts them off from others in the world.
Matthew and Angela got together a few days after Matthew was dumped by Leah (in late September, 1997). A pathetic neediness persists. It's disturbing in a way that reminds me of those old psychological experiments where baby monkeys were taken from their mothers and given wire models instead.
