We'd stopped for lunch at a small restaurant when we encountered a traveling group of singers in a tour bus. Dina arranged with them and the restaurant for them to sing for us. Initially when they began to assemble, a local security officer drove up and ordered them to back away from the parked vehicles and disperse - the normal thing they tell blacks. The restaurant manager (a white man, of course) had to come out and intercede on their behalf. |
