   lawn snakes and spiders
Tuesday, May 25 2010

location: rural Hurley Township, Ulster County, NY

[REDACTED]

It was a hot day, though the grass had grown long since the one previous mowing this season, so while Gretchen was off at work, I mowed the entire lawn using the electric weed eater. There are fair number of garter snakes of various sizes living in our yard, though it was warm enough that these cold-blooded creatures could get out of my way in time. Wolf spiders tend not to fair as well, though I make a point of not mowing too close to them if I happen to see them. (I usually see the white egg cases they carry first.)

I spent much of the day futher tinkering with my generic database editor, improving code related to the narrowing of queries spawned by the automatic following of relations between tables.
