springlike song of a Carolina wren Thursday, March 22 2018
The weather was reasonably mild this afternoon, and for the first time this year I saw some springlike birds out in the forsythia bushes north of the house. They sounded like Carolina wrens and were consorting with the usual winter birds (such as slate-colored juncos). (It turns out that Carolina wrens are not migratory, though in this case I was responding to their cheerful warm-weather calls more than the fact that they were there.)

Today's videoconference happy hour went long (as they have tended to do of late), lasting past midnight Eastern time. I was in a good mood, though I was also in a mood for drinking. At some point the banter devolved into questions shouted at both Siri and Google Home (Siri tended to be more useful, though also more stupid). And then we all delighted in seeing how many emojis we could attach to various messages in Slack. As the rules exist now, there was 23 reaction limit per user per post and (perhaps) a 50 reaction limit overall.
