stagger adding Wednesday, October 14 2020
My big success today came this evening after Gretchen said she'd be working late at the bookstore (curating, as it happened, a private library). I hadn't made dinner for awhile, so I decided to make spaghetti with red sauce using old tomatoes from the garden and leftover cans of pureed tomatoes. I made this "extra chonky" by adding string-cut sauteed onions, mushrooms, and tempeh. To flavor the sauce, I added a number of spices, including oregano, paprika, black pepper, and garlic powder, since I wasn't using a pre-made pasta sauce. It was all pretty simple, though the spaghetti was comprised of two different kinds with different cook times, so I had to stagger adding them to the boiling water. The results were good enough, and after she got home, Gretchen kept raving about it, though that might have partly been an effort to encourage me to prepare more dinners. Meanwhile Powerful is one of a winnowed-down application pool of only four after applying for a good job in Kingston, one paying about the same as my starting salary when I became a web developer at Mercy For Animals. Evidently his time in the clink (which he featured on his resume) is being counted as more of a positive than a negative.
