back to cuddling tightly Monday, May 1 2017
I'd taken a camera with me for the last couple morning dogwalks I've had to do in Gretchen's absence. This morning, though, I took the smaller of my two battery-powered chainsaws so I could cut up some trees that had been lying across the trail for months. One of these was a white ash killed by emerald ash borer less than two hundred feet from the north end of the Stick Trail. It was dry when it fell and shattered into two pieces on impact with the ground, though I still needed to make two cuts to clear it. It's good wood that I can add to the winter firewood supply. I should note, though, that after this past winter, we still have about enough wood in the woodshed to make it through another winter. And that's after my not having gathered any firewood for a whole year.
Today I had a lot of meetings and a few important chats in my remote workplace. [REDACTED]
Gretchen returned from Washington D.C. this afternoon, and she was so tired that she spent much of the rest of the afternoon in the bed with all the critters. It's become cool enough that everyone is back to cuddling tightly in the bed.
