treason hotline Friday, May 26 2017
It was the Friday in the remote workplace before the long three-day Memorial Day weekend, and things were unusually quiet. Dan had taken a sick day [REDACTED] and Ni was on muscle relaxers from some problem with her neck.
[REDACTED] My work today had me adding greatly-improved language support to the main webapp I work on, By this evening I was obsessively building out support for context-sensitive help, and this work continued well past normal business hours as I tried to incorporate a genric 'close window' control for a lightbox overlay. [I was taking the wrong approach, and it would be easy to implement once I'd had a night of rest and a fresh mind.]
I stayed up past 3:00am, smoking pot, freaking out about Jared Kushner's attempted treason hotline, and eventually drinking tea (to wind down my boozing so as to avoid a hangover). I attempted sleeping on the couch, but experienced difficulties. Though I may have slept for a bit, by 7:00am I was up walking around. Eventually I took an ambien and then went for a stroll in the nearby forest with the good Nikon camera, hoping to catch some birds in their morning routine. But I didn't see anything worth photographing. Oddly, the ambien should've had some effect while I was out there, but something about being active negated its effects (including ones on my ability to later recall what happened). I wandered back home and eventually went back to the couch, where I slept until after 10:00am.
