the effectiveness of a news sabbatical Monday, December 11 2017
[REDACTED]
Ever since it looked likely that the Senate Republicans were going to pass their inane tax giveaway for the top 0.01%, I've been enforcing something of a news sabbatical on myself, staying away from all my usual online haunts (even, for the most part, Facebook) and instead doing things like rewatching the first three seasons of Halt and Catch Fire and, well, doing work for my day job (not necessarily during normal business hours). I've been amazingly productive and my mood has been better. It's been good for me. Today I backslid a little from my news sabbatical, if mostly just to read about a failed suicide bombing in the New York City subway system (dude's explosive vest malfunctioned, and he wasn't even killed by the puny resulting explosion).
