Clarence survives Tardilocks Tuesday, December 19 2017
location: rural Hurley Township, Ulster County, New York
I slept until 12:30pm, showing up a half-hour late to my online workplace. That still only represented about four hours of sleep for me. I'm not the kind of person who often starts a day with insufficient sleep, so I could definitely feel the deficit throughout the day. But I was nevertheless able to work effectively.
Tardilocks, our trollish housesitter, had left our house a bit nastier than she'd found it. Between her mind-blowing stupidity and her overall nastiness (as in, lack of hygiene), you can be sure we won't be having her back again (even if she did keep all our animals alive and seemingly content). I wasn't entirely sure Clarence survived, but he materialized at some point late today. He's been suffering from a scabby rash on his head and chin and acting strangely, spending much of his time hidden away in unknown places, and I'd been worried that some underlying disease had killed him or weakened him enough that he fell prey to a coyote. But no, there he was, waiting for a lump of wet food. He's still acting strangely, but at least he has an appetite.
