Like my brownhouse:
   absence of tostadas
Wednesday, August 16 2023
The other day Allee, my former colleague at the job from which I was most recently laid off, sent me some capybara stickers (since she's into capybaras specifically and, being an animal lover, I appreciate them too. So today when I wanted to paint a small painting, I opted to paint a capybara.

Early in the afternoon, I loaded the dogs into the Forester and drove out to Home Depot specifically to buy a good hoe (for my ditch digging up at the cabin) as well as two pieces of plumbing equipment: a 4 gallon expansion tank and an air release valve. I suspect that one or both of those have gone bad on my hydronic hot water system, so I will be replacing them soon. Then I went to the Hannaford on 9W to get more diphenhydramine for the cabin as well as taco shells and canned tomatoes. I would've also gotten tostadas, but there are none at the 9W Hannaford. The presence of tostadas at a grocery store is a strong indication of lots of Hispanics in the neighborhood. Thus there are todastas for purchase at the Uptown Hannaford (the "Ghettoford") but not at the one on 9W.
Back at the house, I resumed work on cleaning the garage, which Gretchen had told me this morning that she didn't want to have to nag me about. But by now I had a plan. In the southeast corner of the garage were a bunch of luan doors taking up space, and after twenty years it was clear I would never have a use for them. So if I could get all those out of the way, it would open up space for the plywood and a OSB scraps leaning against the oil tank (the next "task" in the project, according to Gretchen's project management. In the process I removing those, I found other things I could say goodbye to, which felt kind of good even for a recalcitrant hoarder such as myself.
This evening I used the induction stovetop to boil up some cavatappi pasta with a side of mushrooms, onions, and tempeh. But Gretchen met a friend and didn't get home until after 7:00pm.

Today's capybara painting.
