most non-code-compliant Wednesday, April 9 2014
[REDACTED]
I continued the laboratory cleanup today and also made some modifications to the laboratory deck in case the building inspector decided to get picky about things. I replaced a normal electrical outlet with a GFCI and completely eliminated an old 120 volt outlet I'd installed back before I'd even built the laboratory deck. It was for powering a signal amplifier for a primitive version of my FM transmitter, though I've occasionally also used it as a convenience outlet for power tools and heater tape (back when the solar hydronics didn't include enough antifreeze). It had to have been the most non-code-compliant thing out there; it was connected via speaker wire, lacked a ground, was open to the elements, and of course was not GFCI.
