Today I worked somewhere between 12 and 14 hours. Unfortunately, much of this work was driven by interruptions of the sort spawned by project management software. I prefer projects where a tiny amount of specification information results in me having to work for days. On this project, lots of spec information results in me having to spend lots of time interacting with other developers trying to hash-out an API (Application-Program-Interface) that is always imperfect because I've either skimmed over the specifications or those specs no longer apply. It's all very exhausting and demoralizing, but I still want to do right by the people who have hired me. I genuinely like this job most of the time, and if I'd be a pretty sad human being if I couldn't muster the fortitude to put my nose to the grindstone every now and then.
