preserving hard-won JSON Wednesday, August 29 2012
I spent the morning migrating this complex web of code I've been writing so that it would use a different underlying set of database tables than the ones I had been using, which yesterday I'd learned were problematic. Such migrations usually go more easily than I anticipate, though this one actually proved more difficult because it also involved the complete removal an actual database entity from the application. I replaced it with a pseudoentity for use by the front-end developers (whose hard-won JSON structure had to remain the same).
I've been paying as little attention as possible to the Republican convention. To behold such a large and powerful collection of people being so embarrassingly mendacious, stupid, and primitive is just too depressing. This is not to say Democrats are perfect or don't commit the same crimes. But they're at least a whole order of magnitude less repulsive.
