   November tank draining
Friday, November 10 2017
It was another frosty morning, and the day remained cold, a condition made even more miserable by an occasionally strong wind. After dark, temperatures quickly fell into the 20s. It seemed prudent to drain the rain barrels (though I left the one on the woodshed full, since it's the rainwater I use the most). A year or two ago I procrastinated the draining of tanks and ended up with a bad situation as early as late November.
[REDACTED] I used to hate the assemblage of screenshots into documents, since it seemed like a lot of tedious work. But after doing a fair amount of it over the past couple of days, I've internalized the rhythm and it's become relatively easy. These screenshots make a huge difference when trying to document how a web-based tool (or non-web-based application) works.
I got out of work a little early so I could join Gretchen and Eva & Sandor at the only restaurant she seems to go to these days: the Garden Café. The place was so mobbed we had to wait for a table. While doing that, I started a glass of red wine from Montepulciano. Weather makes a difference in what I want to drink, and when it's in the 20s and there's a howling wind, I want to drink red wine. The soup tonight was a kale & chickpea thing with a dark reddish-brown broth and it was the bulk of what I ended up eating. I got some sort of delicious roasted or fried potatoes instead of salad with my portobello panini, and those potatoes were the only other other thing I actually ate; I saved the sandwiches for tomorrow. I'd remembered to bring my own hot sauce, which was part of why the soup was so great. The main point of interest in our dinner conversation was the possibility that Eva and Sandor might be able to join us on a future cruise down a major European river.
