the cans of the early 80s
Wednesday, November 29 2017 [REDACTED]
I've been re-watching the much-maligned first season of Halt and Catch Fire, which I had thought was only moderately watchable the first time through. Now that I know all the characters, it's much clearer for me. I can also focus on all the nostalgic techy stuff. I'm still enraged at the scene where Gordon uses a soldering iron to melt an aluminum can -- which has never been possible. (And cans weren't even aluminum back 1983, were they? Maybe they were; I know Iron City Beer was still selling beer in steel cans in 1987.)
